Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Board of Supervisors to maintain Nelson County as a beautiful, safe, healthy, and prosperous rural county; where public services are effective, efficient, adequate and responsive to the needs of its citizens; where education is a life-long process; where citizens are involved in all aspects of their governance; and where the community is well planned to assure respect for and dedication to its traditions and resources, while continuing to improve its economic viability.

Meeting Schedule

  • The second Tuesday of each month in the General District Courtroom of the Courthouse in Lovingston.
  • Afternoon session at 2:00 PM and evening session at 7:00 PM (as required).

Should the regular meetings fall on any legal holiday, the meeting shall be held on the next regular business day, without action of any kind by the Board; unless otherwise cancelled. Should the Chairman or Vice Chairman (if the Chairman is unable to act) find and declare that weather or other conditions are such that it is hazardous for members to attend regular meetings; the meeting(s) will be continued on the following Tuesday. All hearings and other matters previously advertised shall be conducted at the continued meeting(s).
