Economic Development Office
The Office of Economic Development is tasked with ensuring the economic vitality of the County with business recruitment, retention and workforce efforts. Economic Development includes programs, policies or activities that seek to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for a community. In Nelson County, these include such diverse activities as historic districts, tourism development, website and social media management, as well as the business recruitment, retention and workforce components. As the Office of Economic Development and Tourism, we operate a state-certified visitor center that operates 362 days at year from 9 am until 5 pm, welcoming over 25,000 visitors and residents annually. We believe that we are here to serve the citizens and businesses of Nelson County and strive to make Nelson County the best place in Virginia to live, work and play.
