1. Charlottesville Area Alliance, AARP and MPact are looking for volunteers to participate in virtual focus groups to share perspectives on public transit – covering topics such as perceptions, barriers, needs, and recurring themes.

Each volunteer will receive a $25 Food Lion gift card.

The focus groups are part of the “Listening & Storytelling for Inclusive Transit: Understanding Older Adults’ Transportation Needs in Region 10” project. The goal is to collect and elevate the voices of older adults and people with disabilities in Region 10 to better understand their experiences, challenges, and needs related to local transportation.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are 55 or older and/or have a disability
  • Currently use public transit or are interested in starting using it
  • Are able to ride independently
  • Have access and can use smartphone, tablet or computer (sessions will be held via Zoom)

To register or learn more, contact at: 434 – 424 – 0650 or email:

Your help will make a real difference in ensuring our community’s voices are heard – leading to more accessible and reliable transportation for all.

2. Partnership for Accessible Transportation Help offers financial assistance for individuals facing urgent transportation needs that cannot be met by other transportation services.

The Transportation Assistance Fund (TAF) is a last resort for older adults and people with disabilities who live in areas where there are few transportation options. The TAF serves the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson.  PATH can help with covering the cost of transportation in critical situations. If you can’t reach important medical appointment and no other transportation options are available – PATH might be able to help.

The Transportation Assistance Fund is made possible thanks to “Twice is Nice” grant.
