REVIEW AND COMMENT ON THE CHARLOTTESVILLE-ALBEMARLE METROPOLITAN
PLANNING ORGANIZATION’S LONG-RANGE TRANSPORTATION PLAN, MOVING TOWARD 2050

Charlottesville, Virginia, April 19, 2024 – The Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization (CA-MPO) is pleased to announce the release of an unformatted version of its long-range transportation plan, Moving Toward 2050. All community members and stakeholders are invited to review and comment. The plan outlines the region’s priority transportation improvements over the coming decades. The Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a fundamental document for our community. It states our region’s collective vision for the future of our transportation system, and it identifies projects that we anticipate our region will implement in the foreseeable future. The LRTP considers all modes of transportation, including private vehicles, public transit, bicycles, pedestrians, and air, and covers other transportation issues such as bridge maintenance and safety improvements. The LRTP must be updated every five years per federal mandate. The preceding version, approved by the MPO Policy Board in May 2019, was named the 2045 Long-Range Transportation Plan (2045 LRTP). The updated plan presented has been named Moving Toward 2050.

For more information on the Toward 2050 planning process and to review the draft plan, visit the project webpage: https://campo.tjpdc.org/process-documents/lrtp/2050-lrtp/
