Meals on Wheels Map – Nelson County
We’re excited to announce we are expanding our services to Nelson County! We are passionate about reaching more people, especially those in rural areas. Meals on Wheels strives to improve the health and support the independence and dignity of our homebound neighbors. If you know of community members who have difficulty both accessing and preparing food for themselves, please refer them to us! This is a pilot initiative, so while spaces are limited, we will look at expanding once we have had a chance to get the program underway. Please see the attached map for our Nelson County service area.
Who meets our criteria:
– People ages 18 and up
– People with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, CHF, kidney disease or other degenerative diseases
– People with physical challenges such as blindness, are wheelchair bound, or missing limbs
– People who have trouble making meals because of mental challenges
– People who live with caregivers who are not home during the day
– People temporarily recovering from surgery
Meals on Wheels completely subsidizes meals for anyone living 150% below the federal poverty guidelines and charges on a sliding scale for those who make above this amount.
