Built in 1809 as a country home and renovated in 2019, Fleetwood is great balance of old-world charm and modern convenience located right in the middle of Nelson County’s music, craft beer, and adventure destinations. Fleetwood sits atop a private bluff of solid rock overlooking the Tye River, with beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When you visit you’ll feel that people have enjoyed this special spot for thousands of years.
You will be staying in a neat old house on top of a private hill in the country with access to Hat Creek and the Tye River.
Fleetwood is located on one of the most scenic stretches of the Tye River, which itself is regarded as one of the most scenic rivers in Virginia. The Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission notes of Fleetwood: it “has seen few one-story buildings having its architectural refinements…the joinery of the interior woodwork is especially fine.”
Fleetwood is located a mile off the “151 Brew Ridge Trail ” and 25 minutes from Wintergreen ski resort. There are a ton of breweries, distilleries, cideries, wineries, and meaderies within a short drive (between 5 and 30 minutes). The Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, and George Washington National Forest are also nearby.
You will have access to the entire house, except for the small room off the master bedroom. This room has not been renovated yet and is sealed shut.
The outbuilding in the backyard is for the owners’ access only.
