Devils Backbone Camp

Devils Backbone Camp is a 75 site camp ground featuring full hook up RV sites, dry RV sites and primitive camping. Within walking distance to the Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows, Devils Backbone Camp offers you a unique camping experience like no other. Cook breakfast over the fire pit at your site or walk over to the Summit for a cup of specialty coffee and local farm fresh eggs. Spend the afternoon hiking on the AT trail, grab dinner at the Oak Grill, and play corn hole in the Meadows. Geography:

Located in the Rockfish Valley of the Three Ridges Wilderness area in the Blue Ridge Mountains. 5 miles from Reeds Gap, a crossing point of the Appalachian Trail and Shenandoah National Park. Surrounded by hiking trails, waterfalls, and the George Washington National Forest, the Devils Backbone Camp is located on the property of award winning Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub and Meadows. All sites are located in a flat and partially wooded area.

Recreation:

Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows is tucked in the Valley of Nelson County on 100 acres surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Basecamp offers a mecca of outdoor activities including bike races, trail run races, and festivals. The pilot brewery is where we craft our recipes on a traditional German designed 10 Hectoliter (8.5 barrel) brewing system. This is our “test kitchen” for recipe development. We pour fresh craft beer from our 16 taps and our pub menu specializes in oak wood -fired smoked dishes and local fare. The Brewpub opens daily at 11:30am & we serve brunch on Sundays 11:30am – 2pm. We are dog friendly- dogs must be on a leash in the Meadows. Fast-casual is available outside at the Oak Grill along with beer and wine at the Outdoor Bar. Light, made-to-order breakfast fare and specialty coffee is available in The Summit Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 7am-12pm. The Shanty, open Friday & Saturday 3pm-to close, is where we pour rare Devils Backbone beers and a wide selection of aged spirits, with a focus on whiskey.

Facilities:

A 20 acre camp ground with 25 full RV hook up sites, 25 dry RV sites, and 25 primitive tent sites. A bath house is located near the primitive area with showers and laundry.

Nearby Attractions:

Located in the heart of Virginia’s winery, brewery and distillery area along Nelson 151. In the summer, there are “u-pick” farms nearby, a farmers market, Stoney Creek golf resort, local shopping and art as well as plenty of hiking, biking, fishing, and scenic drives.
