Blue Ridge Medical Center reaches out to businesses with 50 or less employees and those with part-time employees to share information on the newly created Small Business Health Options Plan (SHOP) by which employers could offer affordable health insurance to their employees and potentially be eligible for a 50% tax credit. The SHOP marketplace was created through the Affordable Care Act and offers financial incentives for employers, essential health benefits for employees and a streamlined yearly process of re-enrollment organized through the SHOP marketplace.

Nelson County Prescription Discount Program

Nelson County citizens can save an average of 24% off the full retail cost of prescription medications that are not covered by traditional insurance plans, through the National Association of Counties (NACo) Prescription Discount Card Program.

  • Easy to Participate: There are no enrollment fees, forms to fill out, age or income requirements, or medical condition restrictions. One card covers the entire family for virtually all commonly prescribed medicine.
  • Free: There is no cost to the County, its residents or its taxpayers!
  • Everyone is Eligible: All Nelson County citizens can participate by presenting the ID card at a national network of more than 60,000 participating retail pharmacies* including:
