The Tuckahoe Community Center in Stoney Creek stays busy with a variety of activities for and by WPOA property owners. The facility is typically busy with exercise programs, bridge and poker playing, quilting, yard sales, meetings, and a host of other events. It’s a popular party venue and setting for educational programs. During national and local elections, it serves as the Nellysford’s area polling place.
Volunteers have freely given of their time and talents to support the clubhouse. The library at the clubhouse, for example, is a resource for the entire Wintergreen community. Managed completely by dedicated volunteers, it now contains thousands of books, puzzles, and books on tape free for borrowing. One room is set up as a classroom with an 81-inch video monitor. The entire facility offers high-speed wifi internet. There is a fully functioning kitchen as well.
The building was originally built to be a pre-school for the community. Later it was modified to house both the school and room for community social events. In 2018 the Tuckahoe pre-school closed and most of the building is now devoted to events and programs.
