Galileo House

Galileo!! We gather our inspiration from this amazing scientist, scholar and explorer for our eclectic four bedroom under the stars. The house is spacious with triple decks outside for mountain and star gazing, and it is amazing when the leaves turn colors in the fall. Galileo at Wintergreen is a perfect gathering space for weddings, bachelorette parties or a long weekend getaway from city life. There is plenty of space for everyone. We are located near the top of Wintergreen mountain and less than 2 miles to the ski pavilion, less than a mile to Devil’s Knob Golf Course, and 1 mile to Wintergarden Pool and Spa. The community pool, which you will have access to (in the summertime), is within walking distance. With three full baths and a half bath, Galileo is a wonderful accommodation for 8-10 people. As you arrive, there are spots to take off snowy boots and gear in the foyer or the garage before proceeding into our comfy living spaces. There are three levels of living space. The top level has a loft walkway looking down on the living area, a master en suite with a queen bed, and an amazing view from its own private balcony. The main floor has an open living/dining room and kitchen, and a master en suite with a king sized bed. The main deck is shared between the dining, living and master bedroom. The lower level has a jack & jill suite with a king bed and a comfy twin pullout in each room (2 kings and 2 twins total), and a deck of it’s own, as well. There is also a little bonus room, perfect for kids games and movies, or a quiet space to work or read. The bonus room has two convertible seats that convert to twin sized floor mattresses. Galileo at Wintergreen is a great house for entertaining, including a dining room table that seats up to 10. The artwork that we have collected from our travels all over the world makes for great conversation starters, too! And one more bonus space: a beautiful billiards table in our heated garage.

There is Wi-Fi throughout the house. The house has a fully equipped Kitchen with electric range, refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave, and dishwasher. Dishes, silverware, utensils and cookware are provided. Towels and linens are furnished. The house has a laundry room on the lower level. There are individual wall-mounted air conditioning units on each level, and of course, heating and a wood burning fireplace. You will have the entire house, including off-street parking for three cars, an entryway porch, and THREE back decks. The house is suitable for families with children, but we just ask that if you have small children that you put some of the more obvious things they could get into up on higher surfaces.

We interact with guests as much as they would like. We love being a host both of our homes (Charlottesville and Wintergreen), and we are happy to chat with you about things to do here. However, we completely respect guests’ privacy and want you to feel you are in your own home and feel no obligation to talk in person. We are available to communicate via phone, text, or email. We often travel and are out of town, in which case, we leave a local contact for you, just in case.

Bookings encompassing holidays will incur a weekend rates for all three nights of the weekend. (MLK day, President’s Day, Easter weekend, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years). The minimum stay is 2 nights.
