From Dominion Energy:
Tree trimming activities will begin this weekend in the Afton area. Forestry crews have identified several areas that experienced significant damage during the ice storms last month, and we want to take advantage of the upcoming clear weather that is forecasted so that we can continue to provide safe and reliable energy.
Beginning this Saturday, March 20, Dominion Energy contractors will be in the area performing tree trimming, which will include the use of a helicopter to perform the work. We expect to begin around 8:00 and conclude around 16:00 each day, including weekends, and continue throughout the next several weeks, weather permitting. We do not have any planned outages related to the forestry work scheduled this weekend, but throughout the next several weeks there may be some areas where we will need to schedule outages while we perform the work. We will make sure to give customers a heads up if this is to occur. Most of the work will be in the Afton Mountain area and some of the eastern side of Waynesboro/Augusta County. Because some of the forestry work will occur along I-64, we are coordinating with VDOT and the Virginia State Police to make sure that all necessary safety precautions are taken.
We are notifying customers via telephone message (transcript included below) and, in some cases, we may have face-to-face interactions with landowners.
Please know that with the ongoing concerns over COVID-19, we are mindful of our activities and will be maintaining property owner interactions with the appropriate social distancing. The work we do is integral to maintaining grid reliability and our crews will continue to perform work as needed to provide reliable energy.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions. Thank you!
The following is a message from Dominion Energy.
Beginning this week, Saturday March 20, 2021, Dominion Tree Trimming Contractors will be in your area performing necessary tree maintenance. Due to the inaccessibility of some areas, a helicopter will be utilized to perform this work. We will be working primarily between 08:00-16:00 each day of the week to include weekends when weather permits. Most of our work will be in the vicinity of Afton Mountain and the eastern side of Waynesboro.
While we will strive to prevent unintended outages, there is a slight risk that you may lose power during this time. If this occurs, please be assured that Dominion response crews will be strategically placed in the area and will respond immediately to restore service to affected customers as quickly as possible. This work should continue into the first few weeks of April 2021.
