Democratic Party Presidential Primary Election

A Democratic Party Presidential Primary will be held on March 3, 2020 in Nelson County. The Constitution of Virginia requires that voters be registered in the precinct in which they live in order to be qualified to vote.

The deadline to register to vote in this election is Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Qualified residents who will be at least 18 years of age on or before November 3, 2020, may register by this deadline to be eligible to vote in this election.

To register to vote, you must complete a voter registration application. To fill out the online application form or download a blank mail-in voter registration application and complete it by hand go to www.vote.virginia.gov. Voters may complete registration applications in person at a local election official office, DMV and other Virginia governmental agencies.

*Registered voters who need to change their address may submit a voter registration application or on-line at www.vote.virginia.gov.  The deadline to change registration information prior to the General Election is Tuesday, February 25, 2020.  If a registered voter’s address has changed, the voter should update their address to ensure they remain qualified to vote.

Absentee Ballots: *Deadline to Apply By Mail:  Tuesday, February 25, 2020 5:00 p.m.

*Deadline to Apply In Person:  Saturday, February 29, 2020 5:00 p.m.

*All Polling Locations will be open.

*Reminder: Roseland’s Polling location is now at the Massies Mill Ruritan Club.

All voters must show a photo ID in order to vote. If you do not have one, please call 434-263-7190 for information on obtaining one.

Voter Registration Deadline: October 12, 2020

The deadline to register to vote in the General Election is Monday, October 12, 2020. The constitution of Virginia requires that voters be registered in the precinct in which they live in order to be qualified to vote. Qualified residents who will be at least 18 years of age on or before November 5, 2019, may register to vote. To register to vote, you must complete a voter registration application. Use this website to fill out the online application form. You can also download a blank mail-in voter registration application and complete it by hand. Polling Hours

On any election, whether General, Primary, or Special – the polls are required to open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
