Nelson County is a rural county with strong traditions in the past and optimistic visions for the future. Trash, waste and litter are inevitable side effects of our lives, but how we handle these and what we do to minimize them says much about our county. Keep Nelson Beautiful is a small group of volunteers appointed by the Board of Supervisors. They provide the community with the information and inspiration to maximize recycling and minimize waste. They also provide opportunities for individuals and groups to participate in anti-litter campaigns.
Mission Statement
To protect the environment of Nelson County through the principles of waste reduction, reuse of resources and recycling; To preserve and maintain the scenic beauty of Nelson County by addressing litter and dumping; To encourage citizen responsibility for the efficient use of natural resources and to strengthen civic pride in the beautification of the county.
