Exhibits on Rural Electrification, Hurricane Camille and Nelson County Schools in an 18th century tavern. Gift shop includes historical maps of Nelson County, Hurricane Camille books, CDs and DVDs of Camille remembrances and books by local authors.

The 2016 April opening will feature a temporary special exhibit “Remembering Earl Hamner” with memorabilia from the Daura Gallery at Lynchburg College. Later in April – temporary exhibit of Burgess postcards of scenes of Nelson County communities from the early 1900’s.
The Oakland Museum is now also the Headquarters of the Nelson County Historical Society.
