The Montebello Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company is a full-service, state accredited agency. Both fire and medical emergency services are provided 24 hours a day everyday. These services are not only available to the approximately 500 permanent residents in our target area, but to the thousands of visitors that travel on the Blue Ridge Parkway or camp and hike in the National Forest. Frequently the agency is called upon to support neighboring agencies. The monthly business meeting is 7PM on the second Monday and is open to the public.

Emergency Medical Services

The rescue squad is composed of state certified Shock Trauma and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Crew members are constantly updating and upgrading their skills. EMT training is valuable education, and servicing the community is a rewarding experience. People interested in volunteering should call 540-377-2145.

Structure and forest fires are always a threat to our remote mountain community. Firefighting equipment includes a modern fire/rescue vehicle, a tanker and a brush truck. Frequently our unit supports State and Federal firefighting agencies. Volunteers are needed. Call 540-377-2145.

Search & Rescue

Both firefighting and medical technicians are called upon to assist in the search for lost persons. Special training and technology are required. Persons interested in this type of volunteer service should call 540-377-2145.

Aluminum Can Recycling Program

Containers for aluminum cans are available at the firehouse and the trash collection site on Route 690. Approximately $400.00 is raised annually by this activity. Save your cans for us. Thanks!

X-Change Shelter

Clean useable household items can be left at this facility for free cycling. It is located at the trash collection site on Fish Hatchery Lane. Bulky items can be posted on the bulletin board.

The firehouse is the location where precinct 402 votes.

Firehouse Use

The Fire station is a designated Nelson County Emergency Shelter.  Use of the building is available for private events such as family reunions. Donations are accepted.

5 miles of Route 56, from the Parkway to “double bridge,” has been adopted by MVFD. Join us for the annual March litter pick up.
