The Nelson County Board of Supervisors is seeking interested individuals to represent Nelson County on the JAUNT Board, the Piedmont Workforce Network Council, and MACAA Board. West District KNB Candidate Needed.
JAUNT Board – 1 VACANCY 3 year Term ending 9/30/19
Summary of Duties: To set broad policy in support of JAUNT’s mission which is to safely, courteously and promptly provide public and specialized services to meet community mobility needs. The Board meets the second Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the JAUNT office, 104 Keystone Place, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Members serve on a volunteer basis. Piedmont Workforce Network Council – 1 VACANCY 3 year Term ending 6/30/19
Summary of Duties: The Virginia Workforce Council establishes the vision and goals for the statewide workforce investment system; ensuring that Virginia remains prepared to meet the employment challenges of the twenty-first century. Local boards are a part of a statewide system, and are expected to carry out strategies and policies that build on state investments. Meetings are held at least quarterly at the Best Western Hotel in Ruckersville, Virginia at 3pm. Members serve on a volunteer basis. Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA) Board – 1 VACANCY 2 year Term ending 10/31/19
Summary of Duties: To serve as an advisor representing the interests of Nelson County in furthering MACAA’s mission of eradicating poverty and improving the lives of people living in the served communities. KNB Council – Up to fifteen (15) at large members; 2 Year Terms

The Council’s Mission is: to protect the environment of Nelson County through the principles of waste reduction, reuse of resources, and recycling; to preserve and maintain the scenic beauty of Nelson County by addressing litter and dumping; to encourage citizen responsibility for the efficient use of natural resources, and to strengthen civic pride in the beautification of the county. Meetings are held monthly and members serve on a voluntary basis.
