County of Nelson invites sealed bids for the construction of Virginia Blue Ridge Railway Trail Phase 3. Contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to perform all work which shall include, but is not limited to, rehabilitation of an historic train depot, construction of a pedestrian bridge covering, trail signage including interpretive, panel, and monument signs, rehabilitation of historic tip and push carts, extension of the trail, and construction of a seating area. General work items include interior/exterior architectural improvements, aggregate trail, minor earthwork, exterior rough carpentry, and site furnishings. This is a Federally-funded, VDOT-administered Transportation Enhancement Grant project that requires adherence to all Federal Highway Administration and Virginia Department of Transportation requirements including Davis bacon wages rates and participation goals for disadvantaged business enterprises.
Plans are available Monday, September 23, 2013 from LPDA at 310 E. Main St. Suite 200 Charlottesville, VA or 434-296-2108. Plans are $100.00, checks payable to LPDA, Inc. Bids are due on Friday, October 18, 2013, no later than 3:00 pm, in the Nelson County Parks & Recreation Office, 8445 Thomas Nelson Hwy. Room 101, Lovingston, VA 22949. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Piney River Trailhead, Rt. 151/Patrick Henry Hwy (Approx. 1 mile South of Rt. 56/Tye Brook Hwy.).
